Ken is a historian, preservationist and a chronicler of neglected Montana history at the Overholser Historical Research Center in Fort Benton and the GreatFalls/Cascade County Historic Preservation Commission. Ken is an author of eight books, and his new book, Montanans in the Great War: Open Warfare Over There will be released September 2019. He is a co-author of Black Americans and the Civil Rights Movement in the West, Montana A Cultural Medley, Beyond Schoolmarms and Madams: Montana Women’s Stories, and The Mullan Road: Carving a Passage Through the Frontier Northwest, 1859-1862. Captain Ken Robison, USN, served in Naval Intelligence for thirty years. The Montana Historical Society has honored Ken as "Montana Heritage Keeper" for his path-breaking work on African American history in Montana.
