David Brooks

Heritage Research Center, Ltd.
Exec. VP
Missoula, MT
I earned my MA in Anthropology (2003) and PhD in History (2012) at the University of Montana. For the past three years I have served as lead historian and VP of Heritage Research Center, Ltd., a Missoula-based environmental history research firm specializing in Superfund and toxic tort litigation, tribal forest history and watershed issues. I also teach courses in U.S. Environmental History, 20th Century American West and U.S. Food History as an instructor at the University of Montana. Restoring the Shining Waters is my first book. I am especially excited to have received the right to reproduce Monte Dolack's recent painting, "Super Fund River," as my book cover. I am currently editing an article-length version of the story for Montana: Magazine of Western History. When not researching and writing history, I spend my seasons hunting, skiing, floating rivers, and recreating with my wife, daughter, dog, and friends.
